These Dhaka blankets are made by my mom, Usha Shakya. She is a home maker and very passionate in sewing, stitching and crafting. She has been sewing, stitching and weaving since she was 16 years old. She learned to craft from her grandmom and her mother. Now she is 60 years old and lives near the famous Swoyambhunath Temple area of Kathmandu, Nepal (famously called " The Monkey Temple"). She started making these blankets initially for her kids and family members and now more recently for her great-grandchildren as well. These blankets are the typical Newari style and called "Dolai" is local Newari language. It is made by stitching traditional Nepali fabric called "Dhaka" between two layers of muslin cloth which makes it soft, lightweight, breathable and reversible. It is an ideal summer blanket while you’re watching TV on the sofa or use it as a blanket in those cozy winter evenings. It is available in queen size. More sizes coming soon.
Washing Instructions:
These can be either hand or machine washed using baby-safe detergents. Hand wash more recommended! We don't recommend using any bleach. If you want to machine wash, please keep the temperature low at around 30-40C (86-104F) and use very delicate setting with soft detergent. Higher temperatures might cause the fabrics to shrink.
